Lay In, Suspended or Drop Ceilings
Drop ceilings (otherwise known as suspended ceilings, drop ceilings or false ceilings) hang below an existing ceiling with wires or hangers and consist of grids in which panels are inserted. One major advantage to a drop ceiling is that you still have access to the area above the grid, making repairs to the electrical and plumbing systems more convenient.
There are lots of decorative and acoustic options to choose from including real tin, faux tin, faux wood and performance vinyl, to name a few. Although drop ceilings can be installed in any room, they are most commonly found in basements. Most of the panels below are available in 2x2 and 2x4 sizes.
